For our 1st Episode of Performance Talks (our new weekly video + podcast) we have longtime Edgemesh friend and debugger extraordinaire Bryan Cantrill!

Bryan started his career as a kernel engineer at Sun Microsystems, where he went on to co-develop Dtrace - a Dynamic instrumentation framework that has since gone on to be ported to the Mac and FreeBSD. After leaving Sun (post it's invasion by Oracle) - Bryan joined the innovative cloud computing company Joyent (now apart of Samsung). Today Bryan is working on low level system optimization at Oxide Computer Company - as a co-founder with Jessie Frazelle and Steve Tuck.

‍In our first part of a 3 part interview, we talk about how one measure's performance and the increasing role of complexity in software design (and how to resist it!).
